Giclee Printing
Although Giclee printing has existed for over 10 years it is only in the past 4-5 years that Giclee has become the pre-eminent and favoured choice of printing for high quality fine art limited edition prints.
Technology has advanced to the extent that it is hard to tell the difference between a Giclee Print and an original work. Using high-resolution digital scans and archival quality inks printers are able to achieve astonishing levels of definition and vibrancy of colour.
Today Giclee Prints can be seen: in New York City at the Metropolitan Museum and the Museum of Modern Art, and in London at the Tate Modern. Auctions of prints have resulted in collectors paying over £7,000 for an Annie Liebovitz print and over £14,000 for a Wolfgang Tillmans print. Truly the era of Giclee has arrived.
